Vincent Jackson could play in Week #5

CBS Sportswire is reporting that Vincent Jackson could play as early as Week # 5.  The NFL and the Players Union agreed today that Jackson could play in Week # 5 provided that he is traded by next Wednesday.

If he remains with the Chargers, the earliest he could play is in Week # 7, but is likely to sit out until Week # 10 when he would have to report to ensure he does not lose his seniority in the [...]

Owens signs with Bengals – Fantasy Impact

Fox Sports is reporting that the Cincinatti Bengals have agreed to a 1 year contract with free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.   The story was confirmed by Chad Ochocinco on his twitter account – “My homeboy is a Bengal all our games have been moved to pay-per-view.”  Ochocinco has been actively recruiting TO for a few months to join him in Cincy.

Owens is still a big play threat as seen by his 15.1 ypc average last year with the Bills.  [...]

Smith Flagged for Fantasy Injury

The Carolina Panther’s Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Steve Smith has no trouble carving NFL defenses, but can’t hang with kids at his own youth football camp.  Smith broke his arm during a Flag Football Game severely enough that it required surgery and will cause him to be out of action until mid-August at the earliest.  Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Smith’s recovery to ensure he will be healthy enough for the start of the 2010 NFL regular season.

Vincent Jackson to sit out 10 Weeks?

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that Vincent Jackson has not signed his tender offer to play for $3.3 million in 2010.  The deadline to sign the deal was Monday at midnight.  It is now most likely that Jackson will sit out until after week #10 when he must return to for the final 6 games for league accrued work to count for this year.  Jackson had a breakout Fantasy year in 2009 when he caught 75 balls for 1,278 [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football Wide Receivers

Here is a first look at some of the top Wide Receivers picked in the recent 2010 NFL Draft.

Demaryius Thomas - The Denver Broncos selected Georgia Tech star as the 1st receiver in the draft in the first round.  Thomas could not have landed in a better spot to have an opportunity to start from day 1.  The Broncos recently traded disgruntled and talented Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins leaving the opportunity for Thomas.  At 6’3″, 224 lbs and exceptional speed, he [...]

Brandon Marshall traded to Dolphins

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos have traded disgruntled Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a 2010 and 2011 2nd round pick.  It seemed that Marshall was headed to Seattle, but the Dolphins made an offer that Denver could not pass.  It is likely that the Broncos will now draft top WR prospect Dez Bryant in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft.

As for the Dolphins, they became a much better offensive football team which will make [...]

Superbowl MVP Holmes Dumped!…And Suspended!!

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Monday that the Steelers were planning to cut Santonio Holmes if they could not find a trade.   The Steelers dumped Holmes to the New York Jets for a 2010 5th Round Draft pick and then Holmes was suspended for the first 4 games of the 2010 NFL Season for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Holmes was a first round pick in 2006 out of Ohio State and progressively improved in his first 3 seasons which culminated [...]

Ravens acquire Boldin

The Baltimore Sun has reported that Anquan Boldin has been traded from the Arizona Cardinals to the Baltimore Ravens for 2010 draft picks. This trade will have fantasy impact on both teams.  The Cardinals still have a good receiving corps led by Larry Fitzgerald and breakout candidates Steve Breaston and Early Doucet. Look for both Breaston and Doucet’s (a physical clone to Boldin) value to increase in drafts this summer and Fitzgerald probably will take a hit since Kurt Warner [...]

Bills release TO; Bears to call?

The Buffalo News reports that the Bills have released Terrell Owens.   Even at the age of 36, TO should have no problem finding a new home.  The Bears, Ravens and Dolphins are potential playoff teams that could use the services of TO.  Jay Cutler to TO would be the best fit for Fantasy Owners.

Owens was buried by terrible quarterback play in Buffalo last year and still caught 55 balls for 829 yards (a good 15.1 ypc) and 5 TD’s.  He only [...]
