2010 Fantasy Draft – RB Tier Rankings

Here are the Running Backs!!  See how quickly the elite separate from the lower tiers.  Only 25 total RB’s projected to score 150+ points in 2010 PPR Leagues.  Switch to Standard Scoring Leagues and only 12 RB’s are projected to score more than 150+ points.  Since there are about 30 QB’s and 38 WR’s projected to score more than 150 points in PPR leagues, you can see why it might be important to understand the tier values across positions when [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #5

The #5 spot lands us in Pittsburgh.

Jonathan Dwyer- Prior to the combine, the 5’11″ 229 lb back out of Georgia Tech was considered a 2nd round pick.  His poor combine had him fall to the 6th round.  However, Dwyer finds himself in a great situation as Pittsburgh is sure to lean on the running game in 2010 and he will see touches as the back-up to Rashard Mendenhall.  Dwyer has the size to run through tackles and could end up [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #4

From Buffalo we move onward to the Houston Texans.

Ben Tate – The 5’11″ 220 lb back from Auburn finds a great opportunity in Houston.  Tate is a powerful one-cut back who should fit that Texans running game perfectly.  Steve Slaton has proved he could not carry the full load and the Arian Foster experiment last year was not the answer for the Texans, which gives Tate the opportunity to be the feature back in the high powered Texans offense.  Matt [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #3

From Detroit we move to the Buffalo and find the 1st back drafted at # 9 overall.

C.J. Spiller – The Bills did not need to draft a running back as early in the draft with Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch already on the roster.  However, they did want to pass on the most explosive back available in this year’s draft.  Spiller probably is not an every down back capable of 20-25 carries per game, but has been compared to Reggie [...]

LenDale White – No where to run in 2010

The Seattle Times confirmed that the Seahawks have released running back LenDale White today.  The Seahawks traded for White during the recent NFL Draft and was expected to compete for a starting role with Justin Forsett.  White was reportedly in the best shape of his career and was reuniting with Coach Pete Carroll.  The move had put White back on the Fantasy Football map with the potential to perform as a high #3 to low #2 Fantasy Back for 2010.  [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #2

Continuing our look at the top fantasy football rookie running backs brings us to Detroit.

Jahvid Best – At 5’10″ and 199 lbs, Best is being compared to Chris Johnson because of his explosive speed and instinctive breakaway running style.  If Best had not missed his final 4 games at California with a concussion he might have gone higher in the draft.  However, Best finds a good spot in Detroit because Kevin Smith is on the mend from off-season knee surgery.  The Detroit [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #1

Here is my the first look at the top rookie running backs based on their potential fantasy football impact in 2010.  Let’s start with the top guy.

Ryan Matthews – The San Diego Chargers traded up in the draft to make sure they did not miss their opportunity to draft a franchise running back to replace LT.  The Fresno State product brings good size, good speed and strength to have a successful NFL career.  He will need to develop receiving and blocking skills, [...]

Seahawks add RB’s White & Washington

Pete Carroll traded for Titan’s LenDale White and the Jet’s Leon Washington on the last day of the draft to bolster the Seahawks’ backfield.  This will mark a reunion for White as Carroll was the head coach when LenDale excelled at USC.  White faded in Fantasy Football in 2009 as the back-up to Chris Johnson in Tennessee.  In 2008, White rushed for 15 touchdowns and in 2007 he ran for 1,110 yards and 7 touchdowns.  Seattle presents a great opportunity [...]

Brandon Marshall traded to Dolphins

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos have traded disgruntled Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a 2010 and 2011 2nd round pick.  It seemed that Marshall was headed to Seattle, but the Dolphins made an offer that Denver could not pass.  It is likely that the Broncos will now draft top WR prospect Dez Bryant in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft.

As for the Dolphins, they became a much better offensive football team which will make [...]

2010 Fantasy Draft – Michael Bush vs. Darren McFadden

Do you like Michael Bush or Darren McFadden?  The release of Justin Fargas allows both to have a chance to step up as the feature running back for the Oakland Raiders in 2010.  How do they compare?

Darren McFadden is 6’2″ and 210 lbs in his third season out of Arkansas.  McFadden has had trouble staying on the field due to injuries.  Over his first 2 seasons, McFadden has 217 carries with a 3.9 ypc average and 5 td’s.  He has also has value in PPR leagues as he [...]
