2010 Fantasy Draft – QB Tier Rankings

It is that time of year again.  I am starting to prepare for drafts and draft strategies.  My first draft of the year is tomorrow night.  I am trying an ESPN league for the first time.  I typically play CBS or Yahoo.  I will try to play on some different sites to get some different perspective.

Back to strategy.  One of the most important strategies is to understand the tier value for groups of players.  Quarterbacks are the first group I will [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

Time to take a look at the potential fantasy impact of the top QB’s recently drafted in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Sam Bradford was the #1 overall pick by the St. Louis Rams and is expected to develop into an elite franchise quarterback.  The 2008 Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma missed most of the 2009 season with a shoulder injury.  At 6’4″ & 236 lbs, Bradford has the size to endure the pounding of the NFL and also possess an extremely accurate arm to [...]

Jason Campbell – Raiders Starting Fantasy QB?

NFL.Com’s Rich Eisen reports that Jason Campbell believes he will be the starting QB for the Oakland Raiders in 2010.  Campbell has been an underachiever since he hit the NFL, but had his best season last year with 3,600+ yards and 20 touchdown passes.  The trade to the Raiders may be exactly what Campbell needs.  The Redskins run the West Coast Offense which requires a quarterback to have quick feet, a quick read and a quick release.  Campbell does not [...]

Big Ben is Big Bust for Fantasy Football

ESPNreported that Pittsburgh Steeler Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspend for 6 games today by Commissioner Roger Goodell.  The 2-time Superbowl Champion finds himself in a position to hurt his team more than he can help in 2010.  As for Fantasy Football, Roethlisberger was projected as Top 10 QB heading into the 2010 season.  Instead of building on his solid 2009 campaign of 4,328 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes, Big Ben will be a big bust for 2010 that we [...]

Brandon Marshall traded to Dolphins

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos have traded disgruntled Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins for a 2010 and 2011 2nd round pick.  It seemed that Marshall was headed to Seattle, but the Dolphins made an offer that Denver could not pass.  It is likely that the Broncos will now draft top WR prospect Dez Bryant in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft.

As for the Dolphins, they became a much better offensive football team which will make [...]

Sproles signs for 1 year

Darren Sproles signed a 1 year tender offer with the San Diego Chargers worth $7.3 million this week.  With the release of LaDainian Tomlinson earlier this season, Sproles is now the only starting option currently on the Chargers roster.  There is speculation that the Chargers will spend either a 1st or 2nd round pick on a running back in the upcoming NFL Draft.  The most likely targets are Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews in the 1st round or Georgia Tech’s Jonathan [...]

McNabb headed to Washington

ESPN is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have traded Pro-Bowl Quarterback Donovan McNabb to their division rival Washington Redskins.  This signing comes on the heels of the Skins signing Larry Johnson and Willie Parker to their backfield.  It appears as though the Redskins are trying to make a move in Mike Shanahan’s first season.  Will TO be next?  McNabb leaves Philly as the all-time team leader in most passing categories including yards, completions and touchdowns.  However, if the Redskins don’t improve [...]

Ravens acquire Boldin

The Baltimore Sun has reported that Anquan Boldin has been traded from the Arizona Cardinals to the Baltimore Ravens for 2010 draft picks. This trade will have fantasy impact on both teams.  The Cardinals still have a good receiving corps led by Larry Fitzgerald and breakout candidates Steve Breaston and Early Doucet. Look for both Breaston and Doucet’s (a physical clone to Boldin) value to increase in drafts this summer and Fitzgerald probably will take a hit since Kurt Warner [...]

Last Season of Brady to Moss?

The Boston Herald reported over the weekend that Randy Moss  believes that 2010 will be his last season in New England.  “I don’t think they’re going to re-sign me back. I’m not mad. I’m not bitter. It’s just the way things are in the NFL, so like I said, after this year, I’ll be looking for a new team.”

If Randy Moss is right, then this will be the last season with the Tom Brady to Moss connection.  In 2009, Moss [...]

Has Vick matured to have an impact in 2010?

It is unlikely that the Philadelphia Eagles will exercise an option to keep Michael Vick for the 2010 season.  Vick will most likely be traded to the Bills, Raiders or Rams.  Has Vick matured enough to contribute as a starting quarterback in this league?  The NFL was spot on when they assigned Tony Dungy to mentor Vick when he made his return to football.  Vick then ended up in a great situation as a back-up to Donovan McNabb.  In a [...]
