Vincent Jackson could play in Week #5

CBS Sportswire is reporting that Vincent Jackson could play as early as Week # 5.  The NFL and the Players Union agreed today that Jackson could play in Week # 5 provided that he is traded by next Wednesday.

If he remains with the Chargers, the earliest he could play is in Week # 7, but is likely to sit out until Week # 10 when he would have to report to ensure he does not lose his seniority in the [...]

Owens signs with Bengals – Fantasy Impact

Fox Sports is reporting that the Cincinatti Bengals have agreed to a 1 year contract with free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens.   The story was confirmed by Chad Ochocinco on his twitter account – “My homeboy is a Bengal all our games have been moved to pay-per-view.”  Ochocinco has been actively recruiting TO for a few months to join him in Cincy.

Owens is still a big play threat as seen by his 15.1 ypc average last year with the Bills.  [...]

2010 Fantasy Draft – RB Tier Rankings

Here are the Running Backs!!  See how quickly the elite separate from the lower tiers.  Only 25 total RB’s projected to score 150+ points in 2010 PPR Leagues.  Switch to Standard Scoring Leagues and only 12 RB’s are projected to score more than 150+ points.  Since there are about 30 QB’s and 38 WR’s projected to score more than 150 points in PPR leagues, you can see why it might be important to understand the tier values across positions when [...]

2010 Fantasy Draft – WR Tier Rankings

We have looked tier values of  QB’s and TE’s in preparation for the upcoming 2010 Fantasy Football Drafts.  Now we turn to Wide Receivers.  Pay attention to the few #1 tier wide-outs on the list as you craft your draft strategy for seasonal redraft leagues.  If you are in a keeper/dynasty league, you may want to look at trading for one of the top guys.  The rankings look at Standard Scoring Leagues vs. Points Per Reception (PPR) leagues.  Here is [...]

2010 Fantasy Draft – TE Tier Rankings

Continuing our look at the tier values by position, we move onto tight end rankings.  In looking at the list below, it is clear that the tight end position is very deep for the 2010 Fantasy Football Season.  That being said, unless you grab one of the top 3, there is plenty of time to wait in your upcoming drafts to grab a tight end.  Use this list to compare to the other positions and I would suggest adding RB [...]

2010 Fantasy Draft – QB Tier Rankings

It is that time of year again.  I am starting to prepare for drafts and draft strategies.  My first draft of the year is tomorrow night.  I am trying an ESPN league for the first time.  I typically play CBS or Yahoo.  I will try to play on some different sites to get some different perspective.

Back to strategy.  One of the most important strategies is to understand the tier value for groups of players.  Quarterbacks are the first group I will [...]

Smith Flagged for Fantasy Injury

The Carolina Panther’s Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Steve Smith has no trouble carving NFL defenses, but can’t hang with kids at his own youth football camp.  Smith broke his arm during a Flag Football Game severely enough that it required surgery and will cause him to be out of action until mid-August at the earliest.  Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Smith’s recovery to ensure he will be healthy enough for the start of the 2010 NFL regular season.

I [...]

Vincent Jackson to sit out 10 Weeks?

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that Vincent Jackson has not signed his tender offer to play for $3.3 million in 2010.  The deadline to sign the deal was Monday at midnight.  It is now most likely that Jackson will sit out until after week #10 when he must return to for the final 6 games for league accrued work to count for this year.  Jackson had a breakout Fantasy year in 2009 when he caught 75 balls for 1,278 [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #5

The #5 spot lands us in Pittsburgh.

Jonathan Dwyer- Prior to the combine, the 5’11″ 229 lb back out of Georgia Tech was considered a 2nd round pick.  His poor combine had him fall to the 6th round.  However, Dwyer finds himself in a great situation as Pittsburgh is sure to lean on the running game in 2010 and he will see touches as the back-up to Rashard Mendenhall.  Dwyer has the size to run through tackles and could end up [...]

2010 NFL Draft – Fantasy Football RB’s #4

From Buffalo we move onward to the Houston Texans.

Ben Tate – The 5’11″ 220 lb back from Auburn finds a great opportunity in Houston.  Tate is a powerful one-cut back who should fit that Texans running game perfectly.  Steve Slaton has proved he could not carry the full load and the Arian Foster experiment last year was not the answer for the Texans, which gives Tate the opportunity to be the feature back in the high powered Texans offense.  Matt [...]
